Ultherapy After Filler: What Should Your Seoul Doctor Know?

The short answer: your filler record matters more than a generic countdown

Having facial filler does not automatically rule out every future Ultherapy Prime plan. However, the current 2025 US instructions for the Ulthera System say the device has not been evaluated over dermal fillers and treatment is not recommended directly over those areas. That is a manufacturer precaution—not a universal instruction to remove filler or a promise that waiting a fixed number of weeks makes every area appropriate.

The useful next step is to identify the exact product, area, amount, tissue plane, treatment date and any reaction. A physician can then examine whether the proposed ultrasound region overlaps the filled area, whether the original concern is laxity or volume, and whether avoiding an area, changing the target, waiting or not treating is more sensible.

If the product or injection map is unknown, a social-media interval cannot replace that missing information. Ask the original clinic for the syringe label, lot, volume and treatment diagram before adding another procedure during a short Seoul visit.

Why treatment layers matter after filler

Ultherapy Prime combines focused-ultrasound therapy with real-time ultrasound imaging. The current instructions say imaging visualizes dermal and subdermal tissue to check coupling and confirm an appropriate treatment depth. Treatment transducers place energy at selected focal depths, while fillers may sit in different planes depending on the product, area and technique.

That does not mean the Ultherapy screen is a diagnostic filler scan or that it identifies every previous injection. The manufacturer still advises against treating directly over dermal filler. A separate high-frequency ultrasound examination can sometimes help evaluate filler when a trained clinician has the equipment and expertise, but it is not automatically part of an Ultherapy appointment.

Le Moir Clinic currently offers Ultherapy Prime and imported fillers. Its Ultherapy consultation language emphasizes skin thickness, fat pads, laxity direction and prior filler or lifting treatment. That history is not paperwork for its own sake; it changes the map.

• Bring the full product name—not only the word ‘filler.’
• Record the date, amount and each treated facial area.
• Mention nodules, prolonged swelling, infection, vascular symptoms or dissolving treatment.
• Ask which planned ultrasound regions overlap the previous injection map.

What combination studies show—and what they do not prove

A 2016 expert consensus on botulinum toxin, hyaluronic-acid filler, calcium hydroxylapatite and microfocused ultrasound with visualization recommended MFU-V before injectable products when treatments are performed on the same day. The panel also suggested that spacing consecutive treatments by one to two weeks can allow side effects to settle and results to be assessed. These are expert recommendations for selected treatment plans, not a manufacturer-approved waiting rule for every pre-existing filler.

A small 2023 clinicopathological study examined hyaluronic-acid filler and microfocused ultrasound in abdominal tissue under specific study conditions. It reported no inflammatory reaction, granuloma or visible histologic change in filler appearance with immediate treatment, but an abdominal study cannot establish safety for every facial product, plane, device setting or anatomy.

A 2025 expert panel described same-session layered facial treatment using selected Merz products and placed MFU-V within an individualized sequence. That paper is useful for understanding layers, but it is an expert recommendation with named products and cannot override the current Ultherapy instructions or replace product-specific judgment.

When a doctor may postpone or redraw the plan

A careful doctor may postpone Ultherapy when the filler product, placement or date cannot be confirmed; the treated area is still swollen, painful, red, infected or changing; a nodule or vascular complication is unresolved; or the proposed ultrasound map would run directly over filler. The right outcome may be records first, examination first or no energy treatment in that region.

The current Ultherapy instructions also list open wounds or lesions, severe or cystic acne, active implants and metallic implants in the treatment area among contraindications, with additional precautions and avoid areas. This page cannot screen those conditions online.

Do not book extra energy to ‘melt’ unwanted filler. The Ultherapy instructions do not describe the device as a filler-removal treatment. If filler correction is the goal, the product and complication must be assessed directly by a qualified clinician using the appropriate management pathway.

A practical record checklist for an overseas visitor

Before your Seoul appointment, request a treatment summary from the original injector. A useful record names the product and manufacturer, lot, expiration date, total volume, injection date, facial areas, technique or plane when documented, and any later hyaluronidase or complication treatment.

Bring neutral photographs from before and after the filler if you have them. They cannot diagnose filler placement, but they can help separate a long-standing facial feature from a change that followed injection or weight loss.

Leave enough time for assessment and review before an inflexible event or flight. Ultherapy can cause temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising and altered sensation, while filler-related concerns may need their own examination. A rushed itinerary should not force two different safety questions into one appointment.

How to read a combined quote without assuming it is one procedure

This guide does not compare prices because an Ultherapy-and-filler plan cannot be matched fairly without the exact filler, amount, area, ultrasound map, transducers, line count, clinician, tax and follow-up. It makes no claim that Seoul is cheaper.

Ask for separate written entries for Ultherapy Prime and any injectable. Each entry should identify the genuine device or sealed product, treatment area, quantity, clinician, VAT, expected recovery and review plan. A package name is not enough to judge whether the filled and ultrasound-treated regions overlap.

The reassuring answer is sometimes a smaller plan: treat a non-overlapping lax area, postpone an injection, reassess after swelling settles or choose no additional treatment. A transparent consultation should make room for all four possibilities.
